I am originally from Galway and have attended oil painting classes over the past ten years here in Limerick, with Hilary Cunningham as my tutor. I enjoyed them tremendously but I knew I wanted to go in a different direction.
Now I am concentrating on watercolour paintings of the wild Irish flowers, found along our western coastline and in the Burren. I love to spend time by the sea in Clare or Connemara, photographing or sketching and painting these little flowers. I am a self- taught water colourist and try to capture their delicacy and beauty and am in awe at the detail of even the tiniest flowers.
I think of myself more as an illustrator and from an early age I drew cartoons – which often got me into trouble in school! So I also draw and paint little cartoons for special occasions and none.
